For their new flagship coffee bar, Kōkako wanted to create a self-serve experience that promoted the use of reusable cups, without alienating their customers who aren’t ready to make the shift. We designed a self-serve Tablet App that makes choosing reusable cups easy and helps customers beat the queues while they’re at it.
The App is seamlessly integrated into their point of sale system, eliminating double entry and making management a breeze. Conscious of technology reducing customer interaction, we replaced the boring 3-digit order number with a native bird name. Now Kokako customers can hear the barista say "Order up Pukeko!” — a fun new ingredient to the daily coffee ritual.
